The November 5, 2026 Strongsville Board of Education work session discussed the recent passage of Issue 9, which the board said provides about $7.5 million in new annual funding and avoids $13.9 million in additional cuts projected by the 2027–28 school year. The treasurer presented a proposed cash-balance policy revision: members supported a 75-day reserve benchmark and keeping the policy separate from the budget-preparation policy, but no vote was taken; the treasurer will revise it and return it for approval. The board also reviewed approximately $200,000 in restricted student-wellness funding against about $317,000 in planned expenditures, primarily for mental-health services and supports.
The board unanimously approved Gardner’s proposal, through the Ohio Schools Council, for a high-school univent replacement, not to exceed $49,876, to address a mold and moisture problem. It also unanimously rescinded prior decisions declaring transportation to Holy Name and Padua Franciscan impractical, and approved providing bus service to both schools; the district cited about $45,536 in combined annual payment-in-lieu costs and said transportation had already begun during the state mediation process. No bus-contract cost was specified. The agenda was amended to add a second reading of board policies and remove the consent agenda, which had no items.
