Body
Polk County Board of Commissioners
Date

Jurisdiction
State & Local
The Polk County Local Public Safety Coordinating Council (LPSCC) met on November 2, 2026. The main funding discussion concerned the Criminal Justice Commission’s Justice Reinvestment Grant Program and its reporting objectives. Members were advised that a 15% holdback could reduce Polk County’s funding by approximately $126,000 in the next biennium, with an estimated additional reduction of about $150,000 to a related grant allocation—just under $300,000 combined. The group discussed how the reductions could affect community case management, probation supervision, and continuation of the programs, and anticipated further planning once the state releases its public safety plan. No grant award, contract, bid, or purchasing decision was approved at the meeting. The August minutes were approved by motion; the council also discussed identifying members for a future grant-planning subcommittee.
Other updates included Dallas’s new city hall, expected to open soon, and plans to apply for a seismic grant to renovate the building for use by the police department and court. The council also heard operational updates on staffing, referrals, family recovery court, and a planned review of a web-based law-enforcement information system. No vendor or contract amount was identified for these items.
