Riverside Local Schools’ Board of Education held a special meeting on November 5, 2026, including a work session on district finances. Administrators reported about $3.1 million in savings from prior actions, including an estimated $727,000–$1.1 million from leaving the LCSC consortium and joining DCW, and discussed additional proposed reductions and savings for future years. The board also discussed the previously approved 12-classroom addition at Buckeye and taking Melidge offline; estimated savings associated with those changes were about $725,000. A facilities report cited a roof project estimated at $10–$12 million, and the board asked its Buildings and Grounds committee to develop recommendations for future capital improvements. No new construction contract award or bid approval was identified.
The board discussed possible revenue and spending measures, including a tentative direction to prepare a resolution for a 0.5% traditional income tax for 10 years, subject to further consideration and community survey results; this was not a final levy approval. Members also planned an ad hoc committee to develop recommendations on potential reductions if a levy fails. On the consent agenda, the board approved finance items that included $23,468 for Educational Technology services through NEONET, described as software and state-support services, and approved an easement allowing utility work for the Buckeye addition. Officials said the easement itself involved no new payment; payment for the work had already been approved.
