At its November 4, 2026 meeting, the Mentor City Council approved an appropriation increase covering a property purchase authorized at the prior meeting and initiating engineering services for the South Shandle storm sewer project. Council also approved Ordinance 26-102 awarding the senior center HVAC equipment purchase and installation contract to Have LLC for $252,600, the lowest of seven bids; the highest bid was reported as approximately $514,000. Council members questioned the unusually wide bid range and potential change orders, and city staff agreed to provide more information about the estimate and bid. Staff said no significant changes were expected.
Council also considered an ordinance rescinding the agreement with Smith Group Architects and Landscape Architects and authorizing an agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates for substantially the same engineering and professional services for the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve Shoreline Protection Plan. It approved a pavement open-cut request for Gist Construction’s waterline and storm sewer work related to the Uptown Mentor project. Other actions included adopting the 2026 comprehensive land use plan update and approving meeting minutes; the plan update was described as guidance that may be amended as community needs change. The manager also reported that Mentor Avenue resurfacing and Aqua Ohio waterline-lining work were nearing completion.
