Orange County Legislature regular session, November 5, 2026. The Legislature approved a bond resolution authorizing up to $1.25 million for preliminary engineering and related work on the Bunda Creek streambank reconstruction and hardening project in Cornwall, including $1.1 million in expected federal funds and $150,000 in county bonds. It also approved a $70,000 bond-funded capital project for food-service equipment at Valley View. Other infrastructure actions included repealing a 2025 bond resolution for the CR 105/CR 64 Dodge Boulevard intersection project and accepting and appropriating Community Development funds for that project. The Legislature also authorized reallocating unspent ARPA funds from the Thomas Bow Water Improvement Project to a security project, without stating an amount, and approved multiple grant and budget appropriations for county departments and programs.

The Legislature approved Local Law Introductory No. 9 of 2026, regulating automated license plate readers and surveillance cameras on county property and rights of way. The law bars remotely connected vendor systems that feed data into external sharing networks, while allowing locally controlled systems subject to access logs, quarterly audits, and annual compliance reporting; speakers and legislators discussed its implications for vendors such as Flock. Public comment also focused on calls to hold meetings later in the evening, election-record concerns, and community and accessibility issues. No vendor contract award or competitive bid approval was identified.
