The Anchorage School District Communications Committee met on November 4, 2026. Staff presented the district’s October Career Expo, which connected more than 2,800 freshmen with businesses and organizations and drew support including donated buses from Holland America Princess. Staff also said the ASD Listens community value survey was planned for presentation at the November 17 board meeting; the remaining ASD Listens work is on hold until the board selects an interim superintendent.

The committee discussed coordinating ASD Listens community engagement with the board’s right-sizing ad hoc committee, including broad outreach, focus groups, and possible third-party research support. A previous consultant proposal of approximately $167,000 was considered too high, and a revised scope and proposal are being sought; no funding source or final amount was established. Committee members raised concerns about affordability and district capacity, and the chair asked whether to continue developing the approach. No vote or contract award was recorded; the right-sizing charter and proposed engagement plan remained under discussion.
