The St. Croix County Public Protection meeting on November 5, 2026, reviewed the September financial report, which showed no significant concerns. The Sheriff’s Office reported that funding for the communications capital project has been approved but will not be available until January 1. Planning is underway for two anticipated tower sites, including environmental and engineering work, utility applications, and permits. The project expects separate RFPs for tower construction and shelters, as well as solicitations for radio infrastructure, electrical work, and related site work. PSC Alliance is assisting as a consultant; no contracts or awards were approved at this meeting.

The committee also discussed Flock license-plate-reader access and safeguards; the county does not own or operate those cameras, has access to some municipal systems under an MOU, and the Sheriff’s Office said it is not seeking camera funding. The Circuit Court judge requested a review of the hourly compensation rate for condemnation commissioners, with a county comparison survey and possible proposal expected by December; commissioners’ fees are paid by the condemning party. The committee began reviewing department mission statements and budget performance charts for the 2028 budget process and agreed to revisit them. Members also requested a recurring update on the jail project planning group, which is arranging facility visits. No procurement-related spending or award vote was taken.
