At the November 4, 2026, Bloomfield Township Planning Commission meeting, commissioners introduced a proposed tree preservation ordinance amendment focused on landmark trees, replacement-tree diversity, and applicant notification of homeowners associations. After discussion of enforcement, maintenance, housing costs, and how the rules would work, the commission voted to schedule a public hearing for December 7. The commission also reviewed site-plan matters: it made a positive recommendation for a private stable at 1863 Squirrel Road, subject to township and wetland requirements, necessary zoning variances, and a four-horse limit; and approved, by a 5–2 vote, a recommendation on Robertson Brothers Homes’ Enclave site-plan amendment concerning patios, decks, and covered deck areas. These were planning recommendations and approvals, not public purchasing actions.

Staff reported that eight firms responded to the solicitation for the township’s master plan update and that three had been shortlisted for interviews the following week. Staff expected to bring a selection to the Township Board in the near future. The update is planned as a one-year process, with funding split between the current and next fiscal years; no total amount or selected firm was stated. The commission also discussed the ongoing moratorium on sports courts, with further direction expected early next year.
