11/4/2026 - FCPS School Board Administration Committee Meeting

The Fairfax County Public Schools School Board Administration Committee met on November 4, 2026. It approved the September 2 committee minutes and reviewed draft School Board Office standard operating procedures (SOPs) for referral to the full board. The procedures cover motions and timelines, community participation, board invitations and event tracking, meeting schedules, use of school facilities and board-member funds, and onboarding and departure of staff. During the travel SOP discussion, the committee amended the requested deadline for local and non-local travel reimbursement submissions from 30 to 45 days; the regulation’s 90-day limit remained unchanged. The committee also requested a short explanation for the travel office about the 45-day parameter, particularly regarding tolls. The discussed SOPs were advanced through committee motions, generally unanimously among members present.

The committee also discussed clarifying how school-board-member-initiated events and related costs—including facility use and interpretation—are handled through individual board-member budgets versus division budgets, and how staff should follow records-preservation and IT procedures. It reviewed the process for further edits to Policy 18/19 before full-board consideration. No contract awards, vendor selections, bids, or new procurement commitments were identified; the spending-related discussion concerned internal procedures for travel reimbursements and use of existing board-member funds.
