Elmhurst CUSD 205 Finance and Operations Committee meeting, November 4, 2026: The committee reviewed a planned food-service management RFP for the high school, expected to be released November 9, with proposals due December 14. The district is seeking a cost-reimbursable partner to improve food quality, variety, participation, purchasing efficiency, and service speed while retaining district employment and management of existing staff; an alternate proposal will allow vendors to price managing additional staff. Leaving the National School Lunch Program could reduce federal reimbursements by an estimated $150,000, which the district hopes to offset through increased participation. No vendor was selected or contract awarded at this meeting; the RFP is intended to provide cost and program information for later evaluation.
The committee also reviewed York High School intercom and low-voltage bid results. Staff plan to recommend Pentegra Systems’ base bid plus alternates 4–6 to the board on November 17; the work would extend cabling throughout the building and replace aging fiber. The district has allocated $3 million across two years for the project, and the revised bids were substantially below the earlier $4.2 million bids; no award vote occurred. Staff outlined approximately $4 million in planned 2027 capital projects, with bids to be developed for summer work including boilers, roofs, HVAC, drainage, security cameras, and other upgrades. The district will seek a state maintenance grant of $50,000 toward a $100,000 Transition Center roof project, subject to board approval of the application, and will bid for new replacement fleet, driver-education, and activity vehicles while comparing bids with cooperative purchasing prices. The committee also received a budget update; no spending-related motions or votes were taken.
