The Wythe County Planning Commission met on November 2, 2026, and voted 5–2 to recommend that the Board of Supervisors adopt the proposed zoning ordinance and map as presented. The commission recommended July 1, 2027, as the ordinance’s effective date to allow time for administrative preparations. Members did not incorporate late-provided county attorney revisions to the ordinance’s grandfathering language. They also made no mapping change in response to a request to designate the ROD Partnership parcels associated with a proposed data center as industrial; the supervisors were expected to consider the ordinance at a tentatively scheduled December 3 public hearing.

On capital projects, staff reported that the JIDA’s Lot 10 project—site preparation for an approximately 50-acre industrial pad—is out for bid, with bids due November 18 and an award anticipated at the JIDA board meeting on December 2. Dewberry is the project engineer; no award or contract amount was reported. Staff also noted facility work being rescheduled at the Hitachi Energy Arena and planned changes to address air-conditioning and humidity issues, without identifying a contract or cost. Other discussion included subdivision reports and private commercial renovations; no other procurement decisions or awards were identified.
