The City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Commission met on November 4, 2026. Staff reported that Phase 3 irrigation work at Prospector Park was expected to wrap up that week, with lighting work to follow after newly shipped poles and fixtures arrive. Three replacement water features for the pool’s play area have been ordered, with a 12–16-week lead time and installation expected after arrival around February. At the Rodeo Grounds, SRP’s new three-phase power work is projected to begin in mid-January to support Phase 2A construction planned for March. The commission also discussed a conceptual community park at Superstition Basin; design is intended to use development fees, with possible state and federal grants, and construction timing dependent on funding. Staff said the city-county intergovernmental agreement for the project had gone to City Council for an initial review and was expected to return for consent consideration.

The commission unanimously approved the final draft of the 2027 Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan, with a minor color adjustment on page 13. Staff also reported that replacement strength and weight equipment had been installed at the Multi-Generational Center and that the former equipment was donated to a high school. The meeting included a presentation on the city’s existing Placer.ai analytics platform; no new purchase or contract award was proposed. No specific procurement dollar amounts or vendor awards were identified.
