The Leavenworth County Board of County Commissioners meeting on November 4, 2026, included several procurement and infrastructure actions. The commission approved a $147,000 bid from local contractor Brunson Builders to replace the county shop roof, funded through the facilities improvement fund, after Public Works received four qualified bids. Commissioners also approved Resolution 2026-23 amending the gravel-road and dust-control program. Public Works reported emergency milling and planned paving on Tonganoxie Drive, with work dependent on weather and the end of the asphalt season; additional work on Dempsey Road is likely to wait until next year.
The commission approved letters of support for 5310/5311 transportation grants for the Guidance Center and a 5310 grant for Riverside Resources. The Guidance Center said it was requesting no county funding for its grant applications; Riverside Resources receives about $60,000 annually from the county. Commissioners also directed the county administrator to draft guidelines and recommend a policy for community-benefit fees on large-scale developments, with countywide community representation. Public comments raised concerns about Project Blue Stemโs electricity, water, environmental, and financial impacts, but the commission took no development-approval action on the project during this meeting. Rezoning requests and election administration were also discussed.
