The Marion County School Board’s November 5, 2026 administrative briefing and work session included a major update on the proposed Booster Stadium renovation. Staff presented conceptual options estimated at about $33.8 million for 8,000 seats and $25.8 million for 6,000 seats. Board members expressed consensus on a 6,000-seat project with a $26 million maximum total budget; fundraising was discussed as a way to offset that cost, with a $5 million campaign goal. Members called for input from coaches, facility users, and community partners as design work proceeds. The board did not award a contract or formally approve a final design or project expenditure at this session.

The board also reviewed an amendment to the school capital outlay surtax oversight committee bylaws to bar a member from serving both on the oversight committee and on an RFP evaluation committee for a project funded by the same surtax, addressing potential procurement conflicts. The amendment is expected to return for board action in December. The superintendent’s evaluation tool was also discussed and is to return as an action item; no related procurement activity was identified.
