The Kane County Board held a special meeting on November 4, 2026. The board approved the September 14 and September 29 meeting minutes by unanimous consent and passed Resolution 26-499 declaring a vacancy in the Office of the Kane County Sheriff. The chair said a notice would be sent to the Democratic and Republican Central Committees, and a recommendation for an interim sheriff would be brought to the board the following week. Amy Johnson was expected to be sworn in as elected sheriff on December 1, pending the election results and board proceedings. Members also requested that the sheriff’s resignation letter be posted publicly; the chair said it would be added to the resolution as an exhibit by the end of the day.
No procurement activity, contract awards, spending decisions, or budget allocations were identified. The board reported that the November 20 Jobs Committee meeting was canceled because all vacancies had been filled. There was no public comment or executive session.
