The Duxbury Public Schools School Committee meeting on November 4, 2026, approved the FY2028 recommended capital budget of $2,125,000 by a 5-0 vote. The district said this request represents about 20% of identified capital needs exceeding $10 million. Priorities include HVAC work at Chandler and districtwide, Alden roof maintenance, Chandler flooring, classroom technology and display upgrades, the fourth year of the student Chromebook lease, the second year of the staff-device lease, and facilities equipment and furniture replacement. The committee also approved the consent agenda, including Career Pathways 419B and 794 hate-crimes prevention grant awards and policy second readings, and separately approved the Q1 financial report and Q1 budget transfers; each vote passed 5-0.
Administrators presented, but the committee did not vote on, the proposed FY2028 operating budget, scheduled for a later vote. The proposal totals $51.054 million before $3.168 million in revenue offsets, for a net town appropriation request of $47.886 million, a 3.04% increase. Discussion covered zero-based budgeting, mandated special-education costs, projected circuit-breaker reimbursements, and increased athletic fees. The district noted temporary contracted support for unfilled instructional-assistant positions and identified First Student as its transportation vendor; no new vendor award was made. Committee members requested clearer budget materials and further discussion before the operating-budget vote.
