The City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Commission met November 4, 2026. The Commission discussed the city’s budget outlook after Measure V appeared not to pass, with staff warning that deficit spending may require future service and program cuts. A July 4 fireworks event is under review by City Council, which will consider the related fireworks-company contract on Tuesday because of an approval deadline; no contract value or decision was reported. For the 2027 Creek Walk concert series, the Commission appointed Commissioners Krause and Flores to the band-selection committee, which reviews roughly 60–100 submissions, ranks performers, and works with staff to negotiate prices within the available budget. Staff also reported shoreline improvements for the upcoming children’s fishing event and that replacement trees for Magnolia Park are ordered.

The Commission voted to recommend that City Council adopt a resolution establishing a voluntary Vacaville Poet Laureate program and its guidelines. Other updates included a forthcoming Sierra Vista Park opening; donated Glasshoff Ranch sculptures, including delivery, and repairs by a local artist; and new local-artist artwork purchased for the Elias Library, with no amounts specified. No contract award or procurement amount was approved at this meeting.
