The City of Shawnee Planning Commission met on November 4, 2026. It approved the October 7 meeting minutes with an amendment. For case FP02-26, the requested final plat at 34th Street and Beard Street would accommodate 29 duplexes in three phases. Public comments raised concerns about traffic, narrow streets and emergency access, drainage and flooding, parking, and the review process. The commission passed a recommendation to approve the plat with a traffic study and consideration of safety and access/egress concerns before City Commission review; the City Commission was scheduled to consider the matter November 16. Staff clarified that a traffic study is not required under the cited code threshold, but the City Commission could require one.

The commission also approved the preliminary plat for Twin Lakes No. 1, Phase 4, which staff described as formalizing lot boundaries for city-owned land, not approving new construction or leases.
