Meeting
SCCS Board of Education -- 11/04/2026
Body
Board of Education
Date
November 03, 2026
Jurisdiction
State & Local
At the SCCS Board of Education meeting on November 4, 2026, the board discussed the state’s 31A funding, which this year is divided between student safety and mental-health categories. The superintendent said prior-year funds can be used for purchases through September 30, 2027, and expense reports for the new funding are due July 1, 2027. Because the district had not obtained clarification about how long the associated agreement and information-disclosure obligations would apply, the board voted unanimously to postpone deciding whether to accept or decline the funding until its January meeting. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchases were approved.
Board members also raised the possibility of additional security staffing, such as a security guard or officer at the middle school, and referred the issue to the upcoming finance and operations committee meetings to review costs and which funding could be used. The superintendent noted existing security measures, including cameras and key fobs, and plans for a district safety and security team. The meeting also included student recognition, reports, approval of an extended leave of absence, and a board-vacancy appointment; these matters did not include procurement approvals.
