The Greenfield Public Safety Commission met on October 28, 2026. AMR reported 301 transports in September and a substantial year-over-year increase in 911 response requests. It had taken delivery of nine Viking multiband portable radios, scheduled to enter service the following day; the radios consolidate communications with dispatch and regional agencies, and no purchase amount was stated. The Police Department reported approval of a FY2027 municipal road safety grant for $29,687.20, supporting 416 hours of directed traffic enforcement across six enforcement periods; two traffic data recorders were also expected, with no cost provided. Dispatch reported that 10 of 13 dispatchers had signed up for grant-supported training. No contract awards or bid approvals were discussed.
The commission voted to hold dangerous-dog hearings as separate meetings and approved drafting a letter asking DPW and its engineering department to assess sidewalk safety on the west side of Country Club Road. It also discussed moving to meetings every other month beginning January 2027, with a six-month review. The next meeting date was left undecided pending coordination around an upcoming dog hearing. The commission then closed the public meeting and entered executive session to discuss a complaint involving the fire department.
