The November 3, 2026 Beaumont City Council meeting included several procurement approvals. Council authorized an emergency Treadway Place sewer repair contract with King Solutions Services LLC for an estimated $387,805, funded by water revenue bonds; a $119,130 force-main rehabilitation contract with Brystar Contracting; and an $85,157.76 water-system valve assessment by Hydromax USA through TIPS Cooperative contract 240501. All three resolutions passed. Council also approved solid-waste equipment purchases: a Komatsu excavator for $314,945 through BuyBoard and a BOMAG compactor for $1,011,966.67 through Sourcewell. Other approved purchases included 32 vehicles from Sam’s Auto Group for $1,722,924.96 and emergency-vehicle upfit packages for $261,462.72, both through TIPS; a forklift for $54,510 through Sourcewell; and a John Deere tractor with mower attachment for $191,616 through Sourcewell. Item 11, a cement-mixer purchase, was pulled because of a typo and will return at a later meeting.

A work session reviewed vehicle and heavy-equipment procurement methods, statutory and city purchasing thresholds, cooperative purchasing, and the tradeoffs among new, used, leased, and purchased equipment. A councilmember asked staff to provide alternatives for future equipment purchases over $100,000; no formal policy change was adopted. Council also approved BMT ZIP route realignments and reduced Saturday fixed-route hours, while amending the plan to keep Saturday paratransit service at its current 7:15 a.m.–9:30 p.m. schedule; staff estimated this would reduce projected savings by about $22,882 annually. The revised transit plan is scheduled to take effect December 7. A proposed commercial development rezoning and use permit was tabled for 90 days to allow further consideration of its traffic-impact analysis.
