The Franklin School Committee’s November 3, 2026 meeting included an update on FY2028 budget development. Cost-center administrators are reviewing initial requests with district leadership beginning the week of November 16; the superintendent’s recommended budget is expected in late January, with a fuller update planned for December 8. The committee was told that food-service funds have supported kitchen equipment and facility upgrades, including a walk-in cooler, sinks, dishwashers, and refrigerators. The superintendent also previewed a prioritized list of school capital requests for discussion at the November 17 meeting, to be submitted through the town’s capital process if approved. No capital requests or contracts were awarded at this meeting.
The committee received an update on the Washington Street Modernization Project: the district is preparing a pre-bid walkthrough and outreach for architectural firms, with an upcoming meet-and-greet planned; no selection or spending decision was made. The committee approved building-and-grounds access policy ECAB and advanced the field-trip policy to a second reading. It also approved consent-agenda donations totaling $3,000 for a scholarship and championship signage accounts. Other discussion included student and community programs, the SAFE Coalition, and the Horace Mann Legacy and Franklin 250 initiatives.
