The Fountain City Town Council meeting was held November 2, 2026. The council approved the 2027 salary ordinance and approved servicing the police Explorer at Speedy Pets for $839, selecting it over another estimate of approximately $1,200. Members also approved allowing other qualified officers to cover deputy marshal duties when needed. A proposed town code-book update was tabled while staff obtains additional publishing quotes; the estimate discussed was $7,950, plus $1,295 annually for online hosting and maintenance. Members cited the lack of available budget funds as a barrier to proceeding.
The council discussed park improvements and fundraising, including a proposed $50,000 goal eligible for a state match of up to $50,000; $10,000 from a queen contest was already pledged. No park construction or purchasing award was made. Sewer/storm-drain investigation pricing is pending, with comparable quotes to be sought, and previously approved tree-trimming bucket rental was deferred briefly. The food-truck ordinance and its fees will be revisited in December; no final decision was made. The council also discussed whether sealed bids are required to sell an old salt box, but took no action on the sale.
