The City of Culver City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Commission met on November 3, 2026. The main procurement- and budget-related discussion concerned park-field maintenance and irrigation. Staff described aging equipment and systems, the possible purchase of a medium-sized tractor and other maintenance equipment, budgeted capital-improvement funds for targeted irrigation upgrades, and a planned shift away from potable-water irrigation for decorative lawns. Staff said equipment may be purchased, rented, or shared with West LA College as appropriate. A Public Works-funded catchment basin beneath the Sid Kronenthal Park ballfields is also being planned. Commissioners asked for cost and water-savings information to inform the commission’s upcoming budget letter; no equipment or irrigation purchases were approved at this meeting.

Staff said the department contracts with Marina Landscape and expects to issue an RFP in January because the existing contract ends in December; no successor vendor or award was selected. Staff also reported contracting with an outside company for live gopher capture, and said the Teen Center kitchen remodel is expected to move forward, potentially starting in January, though no cost or procurement details were provided. The commission received and filed the field-conditions report and other agenda updates by unanimous votes. The meeting also reviewed youth sports growth and plans to monitor newly adopted sports-fee increases beginning in winter 2027; no other contract awards or purchasing approvals were identified.
