The Lawndale City Council’s November 2, 2026 meeting included a unanimous approval of on-call civil engineering services agreements with six firms: TK Engineering, Kimley-Horn Engineering, RKA Consulting Group, SA Associates, WAN Engineering, and Transtech. The agreements themselves carry no funding; task orders will be paid from already-budgeted project funds. Council authorized staff to issue task orders up to $50,000, compared with the previously cited $15,000 approval limit, to avoid delays in bringing individual orders to Council. Council did not amend the underlying policy at this meeting; staff and the City Attorney indicated that a broader amendment on panel and task-order contracting could return after the start of the year. The motion passed unanimously.
A South Bay Cities Council of Governments representative presented the Equitable Building Decarbonization Program, a first-come, first-served program offering eligible Lawndale homeowners energy-efficiency upgrades and related construction through vetted contractors; the presentation described the program as having millions of dollars in funding, but Council took no procurement action on it. Other business included public-safety updates, public comments, and adjustments to upcoming Council meeting dates. A resident also asked Council to consider changes to utility-tax exemptions, which members said they would review; no action was taken.
