Genesee County Board of Commissioners committee meetings, November 3, 2026, included several procurement and spending actions. The Community and Economic Development Committee approved a $30,000 accommodations-tax sponsorship for the American Justice for Females Organization’s 2027 conference, with a contract to document spending expectations; approved a one-year Legacy Trails design and construction engineering consultant engagement valued at about $400,000, funded by the Mott Foundation; and approved the Metropolitan Planning Commission’s public participation plan. In Finance, members approved a $35,000 increase for jail canteen food services, a $35,000 purchase order to Loomis Armored for cash pickup, and an agreement with Roe for engineering services not to exceed $317,600 for county parking lots and related Parks Department work. They also approved a $278,916.75 mail-services purchase order. Officials said new armored-car bids could nearly double costs, so the county continues operating under a 2008 contract. The committee approved a $200,000 Rocket Community Fund grant renewal for a tax-foreclosure outreach specialist and accepted several state grants, including $338,154 for the jail medication-assisted-treatment program, $300,000 for a Stop Violence grant with a $100,000 match, and community-services and crime-victim-services funding. It also approved a new attorney position, budgeted at up to $173,275 including benefits, and a FOIA specialist position funded in part by reallocating $100,000 from an economic-development allocation.

Government Operations approved a $55,000 spending limit with Blue Water Technologies for audiovisual upgrades and services, a $42,266.40 Cisco Duo subscription renewal, and a one-year Securitas agreement for Crossroads Village security not to exceed $158,000. The committee also accepted a donated former hazmat vehicle for the Sheriff’s Office dive team; officials estimated its value at $15,000 and said inspection and painting were donated. Members approved a $24,000 purchase order to MLive for required legal and election notices, while the clerk noted that state law still requires print publication and that legislative discussions are underway about electronic notices. In Human Services, a motion to issue an RFP for opioid-settlement funding failed after commissioners raised concerns about unanswered questions, overlap with other programs, and long-term sustainability. In the Boarders Committee, a motion to seek an appraisal and advertise the former McDonald Dairy site for sale failed 2–6 amid disagreement over whether the county should retain the site for possible county operations.
