The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors meeting on November 3, 2026 included several purchasing and funding matters. The board approved a $285,667 bid from Don’s Truck Sales of Fairbank for a new road-department sign truck, with delivery expected to take about a year; the engineer noted the purchase exceeds the FY2027 budget allocation and said savings from other projects are expected to cover the difference. The board also approved $23,495.90 to CNC Welding Inc. for two Western snowplows and installation. Claims and payments totaling $610,674.83 were approved, including a $75,000 conservation payment for the Hickory Hills Storage Building. The board approved a revised 28E agreement adding Dunkerton, Gilbertville, and Hudson to the county Criminal Justice Information System board, with the smaller cities contributing toward its operating budget.
The Northeast Iowa Food Bank presented its capacity campaign and requested county support; supervisors discussed a possible contribution of at least $250,000 and asked to place the request on a future agenda, but no funding vote occurred. The engineer also reported plans to submit an application for a wildlife-crossing pilot program, with a funding decision expected in 2027. Separately, supervisors discussed jail mental-health services and the possibility of issuing an RFP, but requested additional cost and service information before deciding. No procurement decision was made on that issue.
