The Boone City Council meeting on November 2, 2026, included a procurement approval for the city’s high-service pump project. Public Works reported a bid of $1,214,200—about $372,000 below the engineer’s estimated cost of just over $1.586 million—and recommended awarding the project. The council approved the award by vote. A separate bid for the Hancock water tower also came in below the engineer’s revised estimate, but the city administrator said the council would defer its award decision until the November 16 meeting. The council also approved temporarily hiring an 18th police officer until a planned retirement in October 2027; a certified civil-service list was approved as well.

The Economic Development Committee said it hopes to begin a public-art project process in December, with proposals to be reviewed and brought to the council for final approval; no expenditure or award was approved. Much of public comment concerned a proposed Light Edge data center, including questions about environmental and utility impacts. The mayor described it as an agreement between private entities and said planning and zoning approvals had occurred; no city procurement decision on the data center was made at this meeting. Public Works also discussed challenges with the city cleanup program, but no change was adopted.
