At its November 3, 2026 meeting, the Hernando Board of Aldermen approved the claims docket, minutes, personnel and donations dockets, and utility adjustments. The Board also approved splitting incoming opioid settlement funds equally between the Drug Court and Crisis Center, consistent with the budgeted allocation; the amount will depend on funds received, and the arrangement is for one year before review in the next budget cycle. No specific dollar amount was stated. The Board approved advertising for qualifications for consultants under the City’s FY26 EPA Brownfield Community-Wide Assessment Grant. The grant covers 100% of eligible costs, and staff plan to bring consultant selection back to the Board at its second December meeting; the four-year grant will support future assessments, with no current Brownfield projects underway.
On a development request for Alex’s Travel Center at Getwell Road and the I-269 ramp, the Board approved waiving sidewalk requirements along I-269 and requiring the developer to install sidewalk along Getwell Road after the planned Getwell improvement project. The motion also called for the city engineer and attorney to specify the sidewalk segment. The Board approved Meredith McAlexander’s nomination to the Planning Commission and recognized the Hernando Middle School eighth-grade volleyball team.
