At the Knox County Board of Commissioners’ November 3, 2026 regular session, Kathy Daniels presented plans for an inclusive playground at Marin Park in Fredericktown. The project is being developed in phases and includes playground equipment, shelter-roof work, ADA-compliant restrooms and access, and parking considerations; later phases may add an adult exercise area and improvements to the storybook lane. A vendor decision is expected the following week, with design to follow and excavation targeted for April, weather permitting. Daniels asked the commissioners to consider $200,000 during budget deliberations; no funding decision was made. The project is also seeking donations through the Knox County Foundation and plans a $100,000 endowment for ongoing maintenance.

The commissioners approved authorizing County Engineer Cameron Keaton to prepare and submit an application for OPWC state capital improvement and/or local transportation improvement funding and to execute required contracts. They also approved a utility permit for Looking Row Electric on Wall Street in Milford Township and a resend-and-replace item to reconcile a few cents in prior assessments. Separately, staff reported that asphalt work on the county’s water-and-sewer building near Apple Valley was expected that week, with completion still targeted for late November, weather permitting.
