The Taylor County Board of County Commissioners meeting, dated November 3, 2026 in the metadata, addressed several infrastructure and procurement matters. For the county horsemen’s arena improvement project, the board received one proposal, from Live Oak Management Group LLC, for review by a bid committee before further board action. The scope includes a small playground and picnic tables required to meet grant-scoring criteria; staff said the picnic pavilion allocation was $1,500. The board also authorized negotiations with the highest-ranked firm for design and permitting services for the Hajis Park rehabilitation, contingent on the protest period ending without a protest; playground bid documents are expected to return to the board for approval to solicit bids. Commissioners approved a resolution and maintenance agreement with FDOT for traffic signals and flashing beacons. For Ash Street, staff said a purchase order and notice to proceed would follow receipt of the executed FDOT agreement. Dead Man’s Curve design and construction timing remain dependent on completing design and confirming funding.

The board did not approve purchasing the Spring Warrior Fish Camp property: its asking price was $799,000, compared with a $715,000 appraisal. Commissioners favored restoring the county’s existing boat ramp instead, and staff will explore whether about $40,000 in remaining grant funds can be redirected, subject to a budget amendment and supporting engineering information. Staff reported that local canal dredging designs should be completed by the end of November; the board discussed whether to procure the work separately or coordinate it with federal-channel dredging, with arsenic in sediment and mobilization costs among the considerations. Commissioners also requested a price for possible aerial mosquito spraying; no spending approval was made, and the discussion cited roughly $500,000 as a historical cost. No contract award was made for the arena proposal at this meeting.
