The City of College Place Economic Development, Tourism, and Events Commission met November 2, 2026. The commission reviewed development activity and prospective projects, including continued efforts to identify funding for a roundabout serving the Whitman and Myra property, and an east-west road and roundabout associated with tax increment financing. Updates included residential development and infrastructure planning, a potential light-industrial project at the former Google Milling property, and Catholic Charities’ preliminary interest in affordable senior housing. These projects remain contingent on financing, approvals, land acquisition, or supporting infrastructure; no contract awards or spending approvals were reported. The agenda was approved and the meeting was adjourned by motion.
Staff also reviewed proposed comprehensive-plan and development-regulation updates, with public hearings planned for November 17 and December 8 and anticipated final action by council on January 12, 2027. Proposed changes include more flexible residential zoning and lot sizes and combining site-plan and engineering review into a single site-development permit. Staff said the city may hire consultants to assess options for critical-area stream buffers, but no hiring decision was made. The commission received event updates on Trunk or Treat and Winterfest, including participating organizations, vendors, and sponsors; no related purchasing action was identified.
