At its November 3, 2026 meeting, the Olmsted County Board approved a zone change for approximately 50 acres in Marion Township from A1 to A2, allowing subdivision of one new five-acre residential parcel. The Board also approved the consent agenda, which included recording right-of-way plats for the County State Aid Highway 1 reconstruction project and two gambling permits. It adopted a resolution supporting Operation Green Light for veterans; no spending amount was specified for that initiative.
The Board awarded the construction contract for the Trunk Highway 14/Kasota Road (County Road 44) interchange and 7th Street flyover project to apparent low bidder Mathiowetz Construction Company for $76,176,984.79. The project will replace at-grade road and railroad crossings and is funded through Corridors of Commerce, a 2012 sales tax, and state-aid funding. The contractor described an aggressive schedule, with completion anticipated by November 2028. Separately, a commissioner reported that the Historical Society is pursuing a proposed $4 million expansion, potentially with state assistance and additional fundraising; no Board procurement action was taken on that proposal.
