The WUSD Board of Education Educational Services Committee met on November 3, 2026. The committee reviewed fall K–3 reading-screening results and discussed staffing and resource constraints for interventions. In its summer school update, staff proposed exploring a half-day schedule and consolidating locations to assess possible cost savings; no schedule, location, or spending decision was made. Members questioned figures showing summer school revenue declining from about $350,000 to under $200,000, noting that summer school spans fiscal years and the comparison may be incomplete. Staff will examine the options and report back. The committee also discussed potential summer enrichment and college-credit opportunities, with staff to provide more information; no funding or purchasing action was taken.
For Watertown High School, staff recommended a seven-period semester schedule for 2027–28, which the committee supported for referral as a resolution to the November board meeting. Staff noted that implementation may require course adjustments and changes to graduation-credit requirements, but the proposal was intended not to increase overall FTE. The committee also began discussing evaluation measures and an improvement plan for eCampus, particularly attendance, with a progress report planned for January. A future library-services plan discussion was introduced, including collection analysis and continued purchasing based on student and staff needs, but no library purchases were approved. No contracts, vendors, bids, or procurement awards were identified.
