The City of Irving Planning and Zoning Commission held a work session on November 2, 2026, to prepare for public-hearing cases and review recent City Council and planning committee activity. Committee updates covered proposed changes to fence variance procedures, potential regulations for mobile food vendors and truck parking, future land-use planning for data centers and industrial uses, and the city’s homebuyer down-payment and home-rehabilitation assistance programs. No procurement activity, contract awards, bid approvals, or purchasing decisions were identified.
Commissioners reviewed zoning and land-use cases, including staff recommendations to approve a small sheet-metal shop conditional-use permit, manufacturing and warehouse uses at State Highway 161, a residential site plan for duplexes, and a change to straight Commercial Outdoor 2 zoning. Staff recommended denial of a proposed commercial land-use amendment and equipment-sales zoning case on Ferguson Court. The hotel/church-site case was set for postponement and proper renoticing so the request could be reconsidered with the applicant. Several other cases had been withdrawn. The commission also reviewed proposed future land-use map amendments and discussed takeaways from the Texas APA conference; no spending-related motions or votes were reported.
