The City of Port Orchard Economic Development and Tourism Committee met on September 14, 2026. Staff briefed the committee on Sound Credit Union’s proposed facility at Bethel and Balair Court. The project includes frontage improvements and a right-of-way dedication for a planned connector, with estimated impact-fee credits of about $242,000. A City Council public hearing on the development agreement was scheduled for September 22; no vote was taken at this committee meeting. Staff said the project could proceed under its land-disturbing activity permit while the agreement is considered.
Kitsap Economic Development Alliance (KEDA) reported on its business-support work, including a program that helped 139 local firms pursue government contracts. The update also cited anticipated Navy investment exceeding $16 billion in the region, with nearly $15 billion expected in Kitsap over the next five years; a proposed shipyard dry dock alone is estimated to cost more than $10 billion, with construction extending through fiscal year 2038. These were reported forecasts, not contract awards or committee spending approvals. Staff also discussed permitting-system improvements and possible analysis of sales-tax trends. No other procurement awards or purchasing decisions were identified.
