Aberdeen City Council’s regular meeting on August 26, 2026, included discussion of city funding, infrastructure, and a proposed public-safety outreach program. Staff reported that the Aberdeen Cares Team, developed with Coastal Community Action Program (CAP), received a $145,000 Association of Washington Cities grant with no matching-fund requirement; the city was preparing for a planned September 1 launch. The program will provide crisis outreach and referrals, with staffing, communications, and operating details still being finalized. The administrator said budget priorities would be discussed with council, and reported that the North Street Bridge project would likely be postponed, with work potentially starting in late 2027. No new competitive procurement or contract award was identified.
Council approved Resolution 2026-31 to surplus a 2002 Chevrolet vehicle from Facilities. Much of the meeting concerned Resolution 2026-32, proposing removal of a longtime Parks Board member; council debated the allegations and process, but the transcript does not show a vote on that resolution. A motion to call the question failed. Later, council approved a motion to repeal Aberdeen Municipal Code Chapter 2.24, covering the conduct-complaint process and associated ethics committee. The resolution and code repeal may affect future board and committee conduct procedures, but no purchasing decision or contract was associated with either discussion.
