The City of Port Orchard Planning Commission met on September 1, 2026. The commission approved the July 7, 2026 meeting minutes. Staff presented public outreach and design alternatives for the Sherman Avenue Stormwater Park, reporting 636 door-hanger deliveries, 852 mailed postcards, 30 posters, and 44 responses to the second survey. Based on community feedback, staff recommended a hybrid design centered on the conservation-focused alternative, with trails and habitat protection alongside playground areas, community gathering spaces, and a garden managed with a partner organization. Commissioners supported the general direction and offered suggestions including looped trails, educational signage, and access for learning about Blackjack Creek and wetlands. No formal action was taken on the park design; staff will continue developing a preferred alternative for further public review and subsequent planning steps.

No contract awards, vendor selections, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified. During Good of the Order, a commissioner raised community concerns about Flock cameras on public property; staff noted the city does not currently use them and suggested discussing the issue with the police department.
