The City of Sunnyside Climate Resilience Advisory Team met on September 15, 2026, to review revisions to the climate element and related workbooks. The draft was updated to address water quality and groundwater contamination, air quality and PM2.5, cumulative environmental impacts, and related goals and policies. Members discussed whether future development should contribute to infrastructure upgrades through impact fees; staff noted that Sunnyside does not currently impose such fees, that state requirements govern their adoption, and that the Capital Facilities Element already discusses the process. The city has plans for an additional well and reservoir in response to projected growth, but no contract awards, procurement actions, or spending approvals were identified.

The committee scheduled a follow-up meeting for October 6 to review the revised materials ahead of the October 13 public hearing. A motion was made and seconded to excuse absent members Julia and Catalina; no other spending-related motions or votes were reported.
