The City of Sedro-Woolley Planning Commission met on September 15, 2026. The commission reviewed proposed amendments to the municipal code and design standards, including sign and mural rules, development design, parking and bicycle facilities, and critical-area protections. Proposed changes discussed included requiring permits for signs of 12 square feet or more and all digital signs, adjusting design requirements for smaller residential projects, and strengthening wetland and habitat protections. Commissioners raised concerns about development feasibility, costs, permit processes, and clarity of requirements. Staff will consider the comments and bring the design standards amendments back for further review; the critical-areas amendments also remain under review, with written comments and staff responses to be circulated before a future discussion. No contract awards, vendor selections, or other procurement activity were identified.

The commission approved the August 18 minutes as written and made a motion, which was seconded, to hold an October public hearing on proposed amendments to Titles 2, 13, 15, 16, and 17. The proposals were not adopted at this meeting. Potential policy effects on development and permitting include changes to sign-permit thresholds, design standards, bicycle-parking expectations, and critical-area review requirements.
