The City of Ridgefield Planning Commission met on September 2, 2026, and reviewed three optional elements of the Envision Ridgefield 2045 comprehensive plan: annexation, environment, and public participation. Commissioners discussed potential refinements to annexation policies, including coordination with Clark County and school districts, unincorporated areas within the urban growth area, and clearer public education about the property-owner-led annexation process. On the environment element, commissioners considered suggestions to strengthen language on wildlife corridors, tree retention and vegetation, invasive pests and disease, critical-area avoidance, and habitat connectivity. They also discussed improving public engagement through in-person outreach, representative survey methods, and reporting how public input affects decisions.

Public commenters raised concerns about the Port’s proposed waterfront redevelopment, including potential effects on wildlife and habitat, traffic, parking, and public access; the commission did not make a decision on that proposal. The meeting included no identified contract awards, solicitations, vendor selections, budget allocations, or procurement-related votes or action items.
