The City of Ridgefield Planning Commission meeting on August 5, 2026, included public comment and a review of draft elements of the city’s Vision 2045 comprehensive plan. Many speakers opposed the Port of Ridgefield’s proposed waterfront development, raising concerns about a planned hotel and housing, traffic and infrastructure capacity, wildlife impacts, and public access. Speakers also questioned whether a hotel could be approved through an administrative “similar use” determination rather than public review. The commission did not take action on the waterfront proposal; no development application was before it.
Staff presented draft land use, transportation, housing, and climate change and resiliency elements. Discussion covered directing growth to areas with infrastructure, multimodal transportation investments and the potential use of transportation impact fees for trails, housing needs through 2045, and climate-resilient development practices. The commission unanimously approved the prior meeting’s minutes. No contracts, bids, vendor selections, procurement approvals, or specific spending allocations were identified.
