🚨 Public Safety Emergency Response

The Washington County Board of Commissioners’ November 3, 2026, PM worksession included an update on development of a proposed enhanced Sheriff’s Patrol District local-option levy. Staff said the second voter-opinion survey would test proposed rates of 19 and 22 cents, with interviews planned for November 29–December 2 and results expected December 8. Revenue projections assume 4% annual assessed-value growth; presenters noted that a one-percentage-point difference could change levy revenue by about $8 million over the levy period. The levy could support patrol services and technology, including an expanded drone first-responder program. No policy direction or vote was requested at this meeting; staff outlined upcoming board review of the proposal and ballot materials, with filing targeted by December 23 and the May 18, 2027 election as the intended date.

No contract awards, bid approvals, or procurement votes were identified. In a separate update, staff reported that higher-resolution monitors for the elections observation room—an improvement included in the adopted budget—had been installed. Commissioners also discussed exploring, with county counsel, whether Washington County should use authority under Oregon Senate Bill 243 to restrict firearms in certain county buildings; no ordinance or policy decision was made.
