The Sumner County General Operations Committee met on November 3, 2026. Procurement and capital-project updates included the West EMS project, which is behind schedule; a contractor’s order of an HVAC package unit for the archives; a newly awarded contract and ordered unit for Millersville; and work beginning on the parking-lot project. The administrator was preparing roof plans for the county administration building, and Courtroom 5C was believed to be complete pending confirmation. The committee had previously selected EOA as architect for the old courthouse project; further plans are expected to return to the committee. Officials said some ARPA-funded work still needs to be completed by year-end, but they could not provide the remaining amount; backordered equipment was affecting project schedules.
The county mayor reported that an RFP was out for the Cottontown property, with a presentation and engineering information on flood risks and options expected next month. A Cottontown community nonprofit asked the county to transfer the Draper House and related property to it for rehabilitation, arguing this could avoid demolition and other public costs; no decision was made. Members also discussed the Hendersonville Library elevator, including repair parts ordered by the librarian, uncertainty over a purchase order and responsibility for costs, and a lack of county records confirming routine maintenance. The committee approved placing trustee surplus items on GovDeals. No contract amounts were stated; a nonprofit representative said it had spent $3,000 on a roof over the house’s back porch.
