At the November 3, 2026 regular meeting of the Placer County Board of Supervisors, the board approved an amendment to the Sheriff’s Axon agreement (SCN108734) for body- and in-car-camera evidence storage and redaction software. The amendment adds about $140,195 annually, with a $141,000 FY 2026–27 budget amendment funded from Public Safety Fund reserves; the revised five-year contract amount was reported as $10,397,777.88, with up to $200,000 in further amendment authority. Sheriff’s staff said the change supports legacy-data migration, third-party evidence storage, and public-records redaction, and does not expand ALPR or FUS capabilities. The board also approved a $1,100,532 construction-management and materials-testing contract for the Hannes Road over Wise Canal Bridge replacement, with up to $110,053 in amendments; the project’s estimated total cost is $7.4 million and construction is planned for 2027–28. The board authorized the Harvego Preserve Phase 2 conservation easement acquisition, including a county contribution of about $1 million toward an $8.13 million purchase, alongside a proposed $5.2 million Wildlife Conservation Board grant.
Other approved spending included a $979,395 increase to the California Mental Health Services Authority agreement for its Smart Care enterprise health-record program; amendments to residential mental-health service contracts, including a $2.3 million increase for Compassion Pathway (revised not-to-exceed amount $5.5 million), with total potential impact across the contracts reported at $7.7 million and no additional General Fund impact; and a $250,000 increase to the county fleet-fuel-card contract, with Sourcewell cooperative-contract renewal options of up to $3 million annually. The board also advanced an ordinance establishing a county engineer role, which would delegate acceptance of certain completed land-development and capital-improvement projects and reduce items returning to the board. Public comment raised concerns about surveillance and data security regarding Axon, and about homelessness; the Sheriff’s Office clarified the Axon amendment’s scope. No other procurement award was identified in those comments.
