At its November 2, 2026 meeting, the Rankin County Board of Supervisors approved two pay applications for the District Attorney’s office construction project from J. Stevens Construction Group: $453,815.95 for pay application No. 3 and $187,789.21 for No. 4, with authority to issue the payments. The board also authorized assigning the Northshore Parkway design project to Benchmark Engineering and preparing a proposed services contract and rate schedule for later board consideration. It authorized a purchase order for two 2023 Dodge Durango police vehicles from the Kansas State Highway Patrol, along with deputies’ travel to retrieve them. A motion approving a change order to add a traffic-control island at a covered drive-through area also passed; no vendor or amount was clearly stated for that item.

The board approved a conditional use permit for a private cemetery on Baker Lane, with an $8,000 bond referenced in the motion. After a public hearing with substantial resident opposition, it also approved a conditional use permit for a four-acre mining operation near Kittyhawk Drive, subject to conditions including a three-year limit, weekday hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., road-protection and dust-control measures, and approval or non-opposition from MDOT/the Highway Commission for using Kittyhawk Circle to access Highway 25. The board added a resolution supporting responsible industrial growth and, where appropriate, dedicated or on-site power generation to the agenda; a motion to approve was heard, but the transcript does not clearly record the final vote or disposition.
