Body

The City of Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission met on November 2, 2026. It approved the October 19 meeting minutes and considered a final plat for Town Square Unit 7, intended for a commercial lot and planned fast-food restaurant. Staff recommended approval subject to receipt of corrected originals and approval and filing of an off-site waterline easement for the required water-main extension; the transcript does not clearly capture the commission’s final vote on the plat. The commission also heard a request to rezone approximately 8.02 acres near Coulter Street and Ardan Road for retail use; the transcript does not clearly record the vote on that request. An apartment-related zoning case near Coulter Street and Pinnacle Drive, proposed for 18–20 market-rate units, was denied 3–2 after residents raised concerns including traffic, safety, privacy, parking, and neighborhood compatibility. A separate apartment proposal on Lowe’s Lane was withdrawn by the applicant for redesign and may return at a later date.
The meeting also received updates on previously considered cases, including approval at second reading of a Town Square alcohol-regulations adjustment by a 3–2 vote. No contracts, vendor selections, purchasing decisions, or other procurement activity were identified. The waterline easement and extension were development requirements associated with the plat, not a procurement award.
