The City of Lafayette Transportation and Circulation Commission met on November 2, 2026. Staff presented the pavement management program and proposed 2027 street work, explaining that the city maintains about 91.74 centerline miles of public roads using general funds, gas taxes, Measure J, and garbage-truck impact fees. Staff cited an estimated annual funding need of about $3.5 million to maintain the city’s target pavement condition index of 76 or higher, and estimated thin overlays at about $40 per square yard versus at least $160 per square yard for reconstruction, which may also trigger stormwater treatment requirements. The proposed program includes paving and related repairs on streets including Hastings Court, Hawthorne Drive, Quant Road, School Street and Topper Lane, Second and First Streets, Stanley Boulevard and Springbrook, and others; projects also include ADA improvements and selected sidewalk, pathway, drainage, and bicycle-facility work. Staff expects to seek public input, refine designs, and bring the program to the commission, the capital projects assessment committee, and City Council. No paving contract awards or bid approvals were made at this meeting.

Staff also reported that it is preparing an RFP for near-term implementation of the downtown parking study, including a parking inventory and database, performance monitoring, employee-parking coordination, and improved parking wayfinding. New meter heads have been installed at several locations, and the city plans to open the Gazebo parking lot to public and employee parking after terminating longstanding private leases; another underused lot is also expected to allow all-day parking. These were updates rather than procurement awards or votes. The commission approved the agenda and the action agenda from its September 8 meeting; no procurement-related motions or spending approvals were identified.
