Johnson City Schools’ November Board Meeting was held November 2, 2026. Procurement and capital-project updates included central office renovations, with final document review underway and the purchasing department beginning the bid process; the district hopes to open bids before year-end. HVAC upgrades at Mountain View and Indian Trail are progressing, with heat-pump equipment deliveries expected and installation planned after hours; a cooling tower is expected over the winter. Bid documents for Mountain View gutters and Market Street School roofing are also with purchasing. At the Town Acres project, construction continued but Phase One completion is delayed; the board was told the contract is through the city and includes protections, with cost and quality being prioritized over schedule. Repairs and pool work at the facility discussed as the “free mold pool” are progressing, with completion projected around May. No contract awards or new spending approvals were reported.
The board approved the September financial report, the annual LEA compliance report, and the consent agenda. The September report noted strong sales-tax revenues and a $5.462 million balance in the sales-tax account; the next budget process is expected to begin in December. A school update also noted that a $25,000 Tennessee Energy grant supported student activities and equipment. No vote was taken on the public speaker’s proposal to display the Ten Commandments and other foundational texts in schools.
