Cleveland City Schools Board of Education meeting, November 2, 2026. The board approved the purchase of four 78-passenger buses and one special-education bus for $915,551.97, using sales-tax funds designated for capital projects. Staff cited aging buses, breakdowns, and rising replacement costs. The board also approved replacing Cleveland High School’s stadium turf with the recommended Pivot system, at approximately $815,000, funded through sales-tax capital funds. The motion called for soccer-appropriate field markings and encouraged the district to pursue donations, sponsorships, grants, and other fundraising; members also discussed future sponsorship options for the field.

The board approved a Mayfield Elementary HVAC-controls replacement project, not to exceed $60,000, using remaining funds from the Highway 60/Georgetown Road widening project. Staff said the work is needed to restore reliable temperature controls and that further equipment replacement may be a later capital need. The board also approved the 2028–29 academic calendar. A special-education update reported about $8 million in general-budget support, nearly $1.5 million in federal IDEA funds, and staffing and budget pressures, but no related spending action was taken.
